Fostering The Legacy of Exceptional Artists

"Contempor'ati" Exhibit Opens in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Contempor'ati Studios today announced the opening of its contemporary Chinese literati painting exhibition with master artists from the United States and China.  The exhibition, which is part of the Asia Week San Francisco celebrations, runs at the Pacific Heritage Museum from October 1st, 2016 to January 5th, 2017.  Admission is free.

"We're extremely excited to exhibit recent works by Chinese Masters Hou Beiren, Fong Chung-Ray and Zhou Shilin," said Jean Song, Founder of Contempor'ati Studios and curator of the exhibition.  "These artists represent the best in contemporary Chinese art in the literati tradition. "

"We want to honor these artists who have committed themselves to the highest standards and tremendous technique in their respective art forms and style," said Mark Barnekow, Executive Producer of the exhibit.  "It is fitting, in San Francisco, that we celebrate lives dedicated to artistic innovation and expression in the tradition of Chinese literati art that has spanned several thousand years."

Hou Beiren, Fong Chung-Ray and Zhou Shilin are trailblazers in Chinese art.  Poet and painter Hou Beiren celebrated his 100th birthday this year with an exhibition featuring his latest literati ink works which innovate on the literati art form and decades of his own vast painting expertise.  Fong Chung-Ray, known for his abstract works, has been creating Chinese abstract paintings for over six decades with cutting-edge techniques and materials.  Zhou Shilin, a professor at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, has applied his expert skill in oil painting techniques to inspire new directions in Chinese ink for over 20 years.
